Sleeping Over

So last night I was thinking about this great blog I was going to write.  My husband was on the computer, by the time he got off I was SO ready for bed, I just went.

Now I can't remember what that amazing blog topic was.  I should have written it down, huh?

The little girls across the street are moving.  Hailey and them have been inseparable since last week.  Marissa was here last night when Mark got home from helping a friend.

"Are you here again?  What, are you moving in?"

He likes to tease the girls.

The two girls are sleeping over tonight.  I don't ever understand that because they are in bed by 9:00 and up early getting ready for school being dropped off by 7:40am.  I guess it's just the novelty of sleeping at someone else's house.

They are the only girls that sleep over during the week.  Only because they live across the street and if they really start misbehaving they can go home quickly and easily.  They also know that so they rarely misbehave.

Getting a cold....

*Cough* *Cough*

Send help.......

Hate colds......

Gnome Home

The Gnome home is uncovered again!  I hope the little guys survived being buried all winter.

This is in our backyard.  It was nice today so we were doing some cleanup and burning.  The fire pit is still surrounded by snow a bit but we did get a bunch of fallen branches burned up.

I like our little gnome home.  I can't wait until the rest of this snow leaves too!!!!!

I bet the little gnomes are glad to finally see the light of day again too.

Surgery......again

Wow!  Has it really been a week since I last posted?  Hmmm, time seems to be just slipping away these days.  Maybe because we have so much on our plates these days.  So many decisions to make in the next couple months and so much to do.

Hailey went in for her check-up on her ears.

She always plays with these little kid toys while we are waiting to go back.

Her left ear looked great.  I think the doctor may have even said "perfect".  The right ear is still not cooperating.  It is once again completely filled with fluid.  They sent her immediately down for a hearing test and sure enough she had hearing loss.

One more surgery.  April 11th she has to go in and get ANOTHER tube put in the right side.  This will be the third time for the right ear.

Hailey's 4th surgery.  I think she will have now surpassed her father for surgeries; she's 7.  I know it is just putting a tube in her ear, nothing major.  Did you all know though that the majority of deaths during surgery are due to anethesia complications?

I'm not really worried about the tube in the ear.  This is becoming quite routine for us.

It is always the tensest hour or so of my life when they wheel my baby away from me and she is totally in their hands.

I'm really hoping this is the last time.  That whatever needs to happen to start allowing her ear to drain properly needs to happen this time.

I'm hoping it does.

Until next time (and not a week from now).

Sleep is overrated

So I am back from my quilting weekend.  I went Friday morning, got there about 10am.  The only project I worked on all weekend was my Mom's.  I was on a mission!  You know, her birthday is coming up soon.

All weekend on finishing this quilt.  I have 3 more blocks to piece together to finish the top row and sew it on.

I worked until 4:15am Friday up at 9:00am Saturday morning and 5:00am Saturday and up at 10:00am Sunday morning.  Sleep is really overrated on quilt retreat weekend!

***Spoiler Alert!  If you know my MOM, DO NOT show her these pictures or this post!****

Thank you for your cooperation, in advance.

See that partial row on top?  I have 3 more star blocks to make, and then that last row can be sewn together and to the rest of the quilt.  Done.

Well, not done, it needs quilting then and then binding and a label.  Then for sure Done!

This is my own design.  I used my EQ6 software.  Fun!

On a lighter note......

HAPPY BELATED ST PATRICKS DAY!

(She took this herself.)

Maple Syrup!

One thing about living in Minnesota is all the hardwood trees.  One of those is Maple trees.

Mark started making homemade maple syrup last year.  It was soooooo awesome!  We all loved it, except for Mark!  Weird.

These are mark's homemade spickets that go into the tree to funnel out the sap.  They look so cool.  They have so much character.  Even when he does not collect tree sap anymore, I may keep these just because they look cool.

Hailey and Mark are going out this week since Hailey goes on spring break tomorrow.  I told him to take pictures.

Bonding

Bonds, insurmountable, indescribable
Father son, Father daughter
Mother son, Mother daughter
Push, Pull, Give, Take.

Unbreakable bonds
Feeling, knowing, being
Talking, laughing, crying
Mine, mine, mine.

Some bonds are undeniable.
Unrelenquishing bonds
Binding bonds that never let go.
Bonds that are all about letting go.

Peace, quiet, tranquil
Tense, nervous, frustrated.
Always there always with you,
Miss you, take me with you.

HI!  We have had an exhausting week here.  I'm pooped and still trying to get caught up on laundry.

We curled our hair this morning (well hubby didn't), went out and ate breakfast, went to Barnes and Noble (one of my FAVORITE stores) and used my coupons to purchase a new book and some good mags.  I bought one of my favorite blogger's new book.  Saved a bundle on it.  I love saving a bundle at Barnes and Noble.  Then I had to force myself to leave.  Hailey drug me by the arm and then promptly slug bugged me in the parking lot.  (She has an EYE for those stinkin' bugs!  I have the bruising to prove it.)  I kid, I don't bruise that easy, I do get slug bugged, A LOT!

Then we went to Shopko and bought Hailey new shoes since she grew a shoe size over winter and her tenny shoes she wore for 3 months no longer fit her.  Sheesh!  We also got her a new swimsuit since she has also grown out of her old one.  They were already 40% off, can you believe it?  Meanwhile outside, the wind is howling with snowflakes blowing around in the air.  Can you say freezing?

Anyway, we are lucky to have a nice Rec Center with a great indoor pool.  Hailey likes to go swimming a lot.  She was really due for a new suit.

Then it was off to the grocery store.  Nothing exciting there.  I was coursed into buying a corn beef and some cabbage.  Hubby always has corn beef and cabbage for St Patricks Day.  Want to hear the funny part?  I'm the one who is part Irish and I don't like corn beef and cabbage.  Hubby is French and Norwegian.

These are Hailey's new shoes.  Hubby likes the camo, Hailey likes the camo but also the sparkles and pink.

Came home, unloaded groceries and watched Despicable Me.  Good flick by the way, cute and funny.

Anyway, here is to hoping our lives will get back into our normal routine, soon.

Still mooing

I have always loved a good steak.  They are hard to find in this part of the country.  Maybe I'm just a spoiled fresh ranch steak girl from cattle country. (Yeah, I am!)

The steaks we had tonight (at home) were pretty good.  They were nice and thick and good.  A couple were still mooing.  I find the older I get the rarer I like my steak.  I'm at medium right now, probably starting to head to medium rare.

How do you love your steak?

Veggies, baked potatoe, and a bloody mary.  (I'm sensing a theme here.)

A Sense of style

She really has her own sense of style.  All her own, she mixes and matches with not a care in the world.

And somehow, she still ends up looking cute.  Somehow it all works on her.

Devilishly cute.

Don't let this cutesy, angelic, tilty smile fool you.  There are devilish tendancies there.  She is 7 afterall, and a self proclaimed fashionista!

Ha!Ha! Gotta love her!

The best laid plans......

It's the weekend again.  My plan, once again, is to get some sewing done.  Well, first it is to sleep in, then clean the house, get groceries, THEN sew.

This plan rarely changes from weekend to weekend, and yet it doesn't always happen.  I fact, it rarely happens like this.

It is almost time for quilt retreat weekend again!  I can't wait.  I think I live for these weekends.  I get sooo much done.  I have lots of "resolution" quilts to work on.  My goal is to win one of the fabric piles that are the prize at the end of the year!  It's massive people!

Snow is coming our way.........again!  Usually I do not mind a little snow, but this year over here, I'm beyond SICK of snow.  I am so ready for spring!  My tulips are probably wondering what the HECK is going on?!

So I'll let you know how far i get this weekend.

The best laid plans..........

Death and taxes

The Good news is in!  We do not have to pay in this year!  YEAH! WOOP! WOOP!

As a wise man once said,

The only things you can count on are death and taxes.

By the sounds of it taxes are on the rise for all of us "middle class" workers.  Although I'm told there really isn't a middle class anymore.  (I believe it.)

I want to be rich if only for the fact that I wouldn't have to pay as many taxes (in proportion to what I earned).

Don't get me started.  They should all be fired, and if someone tells me "well the American people voted them in" I'll strangle them.  The problem is there is never anyone worth while to vote for so it's a matter of picking the lesser of two evils, and even that is a total shot in the dark.

OK, I'm off my soap box now.

WOOHOO!  I get to get a little moooney back!  A little moooney back!  Yeah, yeah!

Mmmmmmmm

I just had to share.  Sometimes it just has to be done.  This is what happens when he turns his head away from me all the time.  Hailey got him the shirt for his Birthday.

I likey!

Sorry honey, but you said you didn't care!  (OK, really I'm not sorry.)

Love you!

Life......Argh!

Wouldn't you know it life got in the way of my Sunday sewing plans once again!  That darn life!

Needless to say I did not get done what I wanted to this weekend.  Parent Teacher Conferences are tonight, so I probably won't get a whole lot done tonight either.

Now I am readjusting and re-planning to re-schedule my sewing plans.  Whew!  There's a lot of REDOING going on around here!

Anyway, here is where a person's flexibility comes into play.

I like to think of myself as pretty flexible.  Not literally flexible, I'm not.  Figuratively flexible, I am.  It's irritating and annoying, but I can move on.

If I could just get that one done!!!!!!  Argh! (My inner pirate showing through.)

OK, now moving on.

Hope you all can keep bending and stretching........
